Prusa will let me print a Brim (to aid bed adhesion) ans also a Skirt (a single line of filament around the outer edge of the model's print area) that is a last 'pre-clean' before it begins to print. Prusa on the other hand, seems to tell the printer to do a line of filament along the edge of the plate and back immediately before beginning to print, which leaves the bit of carp there at the edge, then moves off to start the print with a nice clean nozzle. Next pass, or perhaps a few later, it picks up this ball of stuff, drags it just far enough to unstick part of a line of print, and begins to ball up the whole thing! This seems to happen most often after slicing in Cura, and it seems to be due to the nozzle not being completely clear prior to the print starting.Īs the nozzle starts laying down the first loop of a brim, for example, it leaves a little ball of extruded filament. Especially if nothing obvious has been changed. It leads to a ridiculous about of frustration and trying to remember exactly what I did to get those prints right previously. The worst are when just as I think I have everything dialled in nicely, and the bed it nicely levelled, and clean, the nozzle suddenly decides to pick everything up and drag it all over the place. I've had some prints that were excellent - far beyond anything I had even hoped for - and some absolute nightmares. I've only been learning 3D printing for a month, and tried both Cura and Prusa on my Aquila X2.
